STORY OF AN AFRICAN SCIENTIST IN AFRICA
Prof. Willie Chinyamurindi is a National Research Foundation (NRF) Rated Researcher (C2) working at the University of Fort Hare as a Professor within the Department of Business Management. He is the youngest inaugurated Full Professor at the University of Fort Hare. In 2021, he served as Co-Chair of the South African Young Academy of Science, in addition to his professional membership with this society.
Prof Chinyamurindi’s research is in the areas of human and organizational capability development and how these contribute towards the theme of development. This research focus is located within the fields of work psychology and applied management. Further, through this focus, Prof Chinyamurindi’s explores the role of socio-economic status within human and organizational capability development and outcomes. Consideration here is given to magnifying research accounting for aspects such as rurality, gender, technology access (and usage), economic and social proxies. Prof Chinyamurindi’s has been able to contribute to the theory, policy and practitioner press making a meaningful contribution.
Prof Chinyamurindi is a recipient of research funding from organizations such as the: a) National Research Foundation; b) South African Medical Research Council; c) Council for Scientific and Industrial Research; d) National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences; e) The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa; d) Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority; e) Competition Commission; f) National Heritage Council and g) South African Cultural Observatory.
