Dr Chinenye Jane Ugwah-Oguejiofor is a distinguished academic figure, currently holding the position of Associate Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology within the esteemed Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
Her academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree conferred upon her by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining an M.Sc. in Pharmacology from UDUS, followed by a PhD in Natural Products Pharmacology and Toxicology from UNN, marking significant milestones in her academic trajectory.
Dr Ugwah-Oguejiofor's scholarly endeavours extend beyond the confines of her institution, as evidenced by her active membership in numerous professional societies. Notable among these affiliations include the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, the West African Society for Pharmacology, the American Society for Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASPET), the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), the Organisation for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD), the Nigerian Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (NISPET), and the African Science Frontiers Initiatives (ASFI), among others.
In addition to her scholarly engagements, Dr Ugwah-Oguejiofor assumes leadership roles within various professional organizations. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Association of Lady Pharmacists, Sokoto State Chapter, and holds the position of Vice Chairperson of OWSD at the UDUS branch, further underscoring her commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting gender equality in the field of science.
Specialising in drug discovery and development from natural products, Dr Ugwah-Oguejiofor's research endeavours primarily focus on addressing diseases and conditions that disproportionately affect women.
